Best of Holland – Orange Madness Beercation

With 4 nights in Amsterdam, 2 nights in Utrecht, and 2 nights in Haarlem, Beercationers will see what has made Amsterdam, and the rest of Holland, so iconic for travelers for centuries!

Explore Amsterdam three different ways - by foot, by bike, and by boat - as you dive into the Dutch craft beer scene. Visit the university town of Utrecht, one of the oldest cities in all of the Netherlands, with a vibrant nightlife, popular regional breweries, and some of the best craft beer bars in Holland. Round out your 8-nights in Holland by visiting Haarlem, once one of the Netherlands' most prolific brewing cities, home to Jopen Brewery, the largest craft brewery in the country, and one of the nation's most beautiful taprooms, and some of the best brown cafe's you will find!

Participants will also get to experience King's Day in Amsterdam, one of the biggest yearly parties in Europe. We'll visit the famous Keukenof Gardens during it's short opening season while the tulip are in bloom, visit a working cheese farm, and clog factory. We'll also explore one largest collections of historical, functioning windmills in Holland!

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Amsterdam

Our "Best of Holland tour starts today with a Welcome Toast at the Netherlands first all Dutch-brewed beer bar, the Proeflokaal Arendsnest.  After our toast, dive into the world of Dutch beer with a guided tasting and snacks.  From here we will visit the other 3 bars in the MoreBeer family - The BeerTemple, Mikkeller at MoreBeer, and Craft & Draft - before earning yourself the honorary t-shirt for completing the MoreBeer Tour!

That evening, we will have our group Welcome Dinner at Het Lagerhuis, close to our hotel.

The remainder of the night is free for you to enjoy Amsterdam, and King's Night... the party BEFORE tomorrows Party!

Today is a full free day to experience the "Orange Madness" that is King's Day in the Netherlands, and especially in biggest King's Day Party, in Amsterdam!

Day 3 :
Amsterdam

Today we will explore Amsterdam by boat, with our PubCulture.Beer Amsterdam Canal Cruise and Brewery Tour!  We will start our afternoon at Brouwerij de Prael for a beer flight and bitterballen, the traditional Dutch bar snack, before boarding our boat for a cruise of the Amsterdam canals. After about 90 minutes, we will dock at Brouwerij 't Ij, one of the Netherlands' oldest craft breweries, where you will have 90 minutes to enjoy beers in their beer garden before once again boarding our boat.

We will again take to the canals as we enjoy Dutch craft beer and snacks on board, making our way to our final stop, Brouwerij Oedipus, for a beer and Burger dinner.

The rest of the 3rd night is yours to enjoy in Amsterdam.

Today we will explore Amsterdam by bike.  In a city of just over 750,000 people, there are over 1,000,000 registered bikes! Amsterdam, and the Netherlands, are almost always thought of as windmills, tulips, cheese, and bikes... and there is a reason for that! We will take a bike tour of Amsterdam with our friends at Mike's Bikes, as you learn a bit more about the Dutch's love for two-wheels and pedals. A midway lunch-stop is included.

Day 5 :
Utrecht

Today we leave Amsterdam and will spend the next two nights in Utrecht, the Netherlands, one of the countries oldest cities. Known for its medieval center and unique tree-lined canals, Utrecht is home to some of Holland's best beer bars and several breweries.

Leaving Amsterdam, we will first stop at Zaanse Schans, a neighborhood in the town of Zaandam, north of Amsterdam. Here historic windmills and distinctive green wooden houses were relocated to recreate the look of an 18th/19th-century village. The Zaans Museum has regional costumes, model windmills interactive exhibits, and artisan workshops that demonstrate rare handicrafts such as wooden clog carving, barrel making, and pewter casting.

After visiting Zaanse Schans we will make our way to Brouwerij De Molen for a brewery tour, beer tasting, and lunch before continuing to Utrecht where after we check into our hotel the remainder of the day is free for you to explore this beautiful city!

Day 6 :
Utrecht

Today begins with a free morning for you to relax and explore Utrecht.  In the afternoon we will have a historical walking tour of Utrecht, including a small canal cruise, before you get to enjoy a bit of afternoon free time.  Later in the day, we will visit Utrecht's two most popular breweries for tours and tastings as well as a group dinner at one of the stops.

Afterwards, use your PubCulture.Beer digital maps to explore some of the incredible beer bars and brown cafes soaking up the nightlife of this vibrant city with a thriving student population.

Day 7 :
Haarlem

Tulips. One of the most iconic images of Holland, along with windmills and bicycles. Today we will make our way from Utrecht to the famous Keukenof Gardens in the morning for a guided tour of the park. We then make our way to our final city for our Best of Holland tour, checking into our hotel in Haarlem.

Once a major brewing center of the Netherlands, we will have a beer tasting and our final group dinner at the Jopenkerk, a beautiful brewpub built in a church. After dinner use your digital map to explore the city's small and cozy brown cafes.

Day 8 :
Haarlem

Our final day. Today after breakfast at our hotel, we will make our way to the Clara Maria Cheese Farm & Clog Factory for a short tour and give you time to stock up on cheese to take home if you choose.

Then we'll make our way to the Jopen Brewery for a tour of their production facility and distillery before returning to our hotel.  You will have the afternoon free to pack and prepare for the end of our 8-Day Best of Holland Beercation and our Farewell Toast at one of the best craft beer bars in the Netherlands, Lokaal.
